Star Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen has been on a roll for quite a while now and as such setting a strong precedent for the women folk on country and international level alike. Born in Andhra Pradesh’s Nizamabad (now Telangana), a young Nikhat was introduced to the world of Boxing by her father who trained her by his own and little had anyone any idea that a day will come when this girl would be giving frequent chances to sports lovers and especially boxing buffs to cherish her feats. All eyes were on the young woman when she took to the arena to fight it out for the gold medal against her Vietnamese rival Nguyen Thi Tam a few days back. Nikhat did it comprehensively by defeating Tam 5-0, much to the joy and ecstasy of her countrymen. With this feat Nikhat Nikhat became only the second Indian to win multiple gold medals after legendary MC Mary Kom at the Women’s World Boxing Championships. This isn’t any sole but she has many other feats to her name, which has won her fame across the world. The fairer gender should take a cue from these remarkable feats and see for themselves that if it is Nikhat tomorrow it can be them and all they need is to set out to fight for one’s dreams and aspirations and to say not let themselves be bogged down by any societal pressure. We need more Nikhat’s to see the gender parity prevailing when we actually need it to prevail the most. Kudos to those who already have achieved things and best wishes to those who might be struggling this time around.
