Pakeeza Qureshi, a young girl from Handwara, District Kupwara, has won gold at the Sher-I -Kashmir indoor Sports Complex in khelo india Wushu Women’s League 2023, held recently in Srinagar on 7th -8th September.
This event was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council Secretary, who inaugurated the championship in which hundred of girls from almost all districts participated.
Making her way through six consecutive fights Pakeeza, successfully made her name in the league by bagging a gold medal for lifting 60 Kg in the Junior Weight Category and thus qualifying for Nationals. Pakeeza is a student of BHSS Handwara and has been training under Aijaz Hassan , who is training the young girls and boys of town in different forms of Wushu with the hope of competing at the highest level .Aijaz Hassan is the head coach of Khelo India wushu Centre Handwara.
Pakeeza is a young athlete in her teens, and her success at the Sher i Kashmir indoor stadium in Srinagar inspires her fellow athletes and her generation.
