Srinagar : In a concerted effort to curb illegal drug cultivation, the Kralpora police station, acting on reliable information, successfully destroyed an illegal poppy plantation in Singdona Reshigund.
The operation was initiated after police received a tip-off that Farooq Ahmad Shah, a resident of Singdona Reshigund, had been cultivating opium poppy on a patch of land.
A joint team conducted a special drive and identified the illegal poppy cultivation, which spread over approximately one marla of land. The operation was a collaborative effort involving the Revenue Department, Agriculture Department, State Excise Department, and Horticulture Department, ensuring full compliance with legal guidelines.
Following the destruction of the illegal crops, a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against Farooq Ahmad Shah at Kralpora police station. The investigation is currently underway.
