Danish said that he has been appointed as Fit India Ambassador for the fit India Movement.
“I am feeling proud and really honored that I have been selected as an ambassador of the Fit India Movement,” he said, and added, “It is a great feeling to be a part of the movement.”
Hailing from Gulshan Abad Colony in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, the 24-year- youth has brought many laurels to the valley even in the past too.
In the 2021 Tokey Memorial Open Taekwondo Championship, the athlete was adjudged ‘Best Male Athlete’, and he even went on to clinch the silver medal.
Having been selected as Fit India Movement ambassador, Danish will aim to inculcate healthy habits in and around him, to make India a fit Nation.
Danish recently participated in Israel Open G2 Olympic ranking taekwondo championship held in Ramla, Israel in August 2022, where he represented India in the Men’s 58 weight category, sponsored by the Help Foundation; a J&K-based NGO, working for the betterment of society.
He has been phenomenal in his sports journey from the very start and worked hard to make his dreams come true.
After learning the art, he participated in many tournaments where he won many medals, which amplified his passion for martial arts and motivated him to learn sophisticated martial art techniques.
In his eight years taekwondo career, Danish not only won many medals but is the first from J&K who participated in Asian Indoor Games. He was among the top 20 athletes across the world in the first-ever International Online European Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2020.
He participated in the 2nd India Open International Olympic Ranking Taekwondo Championship and was recommended by J&K Taekwondo Association as a potential athlete to participate in the first ever Olympic level camp under-the world’s number one Olympic level coach Paul Green of Great Britain.
“Being ambassador of Fit India Movement is indeed a huge achievement for me,” he said.
Before Danish, famous Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, Wushu Coach and first Dronacharya Awardee from Jammu and Kashmir, Kuldeep Handoo, International Woodball player Dr. Prem Prakash Meena, Ironman-Kapil Arora, are other personalities who were Fit India Movement Ambassadors.
The Fit India Movement was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 29, 2019, on ‘National Sports Day of India’, with an aim to change the behavior from an easier and better (sedentary) lifestyle to a physically active way of day-to-day life.
Its purpose is mainly to make citizens of the country aware and encourage them for a healthy lifestyle and physical activities.(RK)
