Karnah : Celebrating the spirit of Nari Shakti, Major General Rakesh Nair, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Vajr Division, felicitated women participants of the recently held Tithwal Day Marathon in Karnah for their enthusiasm, resilience, and exemplary sporting spirit.
Addressing the gathering, the GOC lauded the inspiring participation of women in the marathon, noting that their efforts have set a powerful example for the community. He emphasized that such initiatives will encourage greater involvement of girls and women in sports as well as in public life across the region.
In addition to the marathon participants, the GOC also honoured women volunteers from the villages of Amrui, Taad, and Prada for their sustained cleanliness drives along the Line of Control (LoC). Their selfless dedication, he said, has significantly contributed to building cleaner, healthier, and more vibrant communities in the border area.
Highlighting the transformative role of women in shaping the future of Karnah, Major General Nair commended the remarkable work of lady radio jockeys Injila Khanim, Salma, and Anjum from Rooh-e-Karnah Community Radio. He noted that their meaningful outreach, engaging content, and positive messaging continue to inspire and empower youth, particularly young girls in the region.
A special mention was made of Mrs. Nashada Begum, former BDC Amrui, whose leadership and unwavering commitment have played a pivotal role in encouraging women and girls to actively participate in social and developmental initiatives.
Congratulating all the awardees, the GOC urged the women of Karnah to continue leading change through education, innovation, and community service. Stressing the importance of scientific temper, curiosity, and lifelong learning, he called upon the youth—especially young women—to emerge as confident partners in nation-building and the development of border regions.
The event stood as a testament to the growing empowerment of women in Karnah and their crucial role in driving positive change across society.
