Kupwara : Continuing its drive against the menace of drugs, a police party from Police Post Khurhama made a chance recovery by apprehending two persons under suspicious circumstances during routine patrolling near Panchayat Ghar Warnow at around 2100 hours today.
The accused have been identified as:
1. Farooq Ahmad Lachi, son of Bugu Lachi, resident of Lolab.
2. Shahi-ul-Islam, son of Gh. Mohd. Bhat, resident of Lolab.
During their personal search, officers recovered a charas-like substance of substantial weight from their possession. The contraband was seized on the spot in the presence of witnesses, following due legal procedure.
In this regard, Case FIR No. 51/2025 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned police station, and further investigation has been taken up.
Kupwara Police reiterated its firm commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society and sought cooperation from the public in this ongoing campaign.
