Kupwara : In its relentless crackdown against the drug menace, Kupwara Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered narcotics during a routine naka checking at Sohipora.
During the operation, the naka party of Police Station Kupwara intercepted and apprehended one individual, later identified as Nazir Ahmad Khan, son of Ab Gaffar Khan, resident of Gutlipora, Kupwara. Upon his search, a substantial quantity of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Preliminary investigation established his involvement in illicit drug trafficking. Accordingly, FIR No. 24/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kupwara, and the accused has been taken into custody.
Further investigation is in progress to unearth the source of the contraband and to identify and dismantle the entire drug supply chain, including backward and forward linkages.
Kupwara Police reiterate their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urge the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug abuse or peddling.
