Kupwara : As part of its relentless drive against the menace of drugs, Kupwara Police once again achieved a major success by apprehending two narcotic smugglers with a substantial quantity of contraband substance in Lalpora area.

Acting swiftly, a naka was laid by Police Station Lalpora at Rangward during late evening hours. At about 2200 hrs, two persons moving in suspicious circumstances were intercepted. On seeing the naka party, the duo attempted to flee, however, the alert police personnel acted with alacrity and tactfully nabbed them on the spot, thereby foiling their attempt to escape.

During their personal search, a considerable quantity of charas-like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as:
1. Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Ab Rehman Bhat, resident of Krusan
2. Aabid Shafi Mir, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Dharamwari

In this regard, a case FIR No. 46/2025 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Lalpora and investigation has been set into motion.

Kupwara Police assures the public that its fight against drug smuggling and peddling will continue with full determination. The general public is once again urged to cooperate with police
