NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered the suspension of mobile internet and public Wi-Fi services in Leh district of Ladakh from September 29 evening until October 3, 2025, citing public safety and security concerns.
An official order issued by the MHA’s Joint Secretary (Cyber & Information Security) confirmed that all mobile data services—2G, 3G, 4G, 5G—as well as public Wi-Fi networks, have been blocked from 18:00 hrs on September 29 to 18:00 hrs on October 3.
The directive, approved by the competent authority, has been enforced under the Telecommunication Act, 2023 and the Telecommunications (Temporary Suspension of Services) Rules, 2024. The order cited “unavoidable circumstances” requiring immediate action to avert a public emergency and prevent incitement of offences.
The suspension will remain in force across the entire jurisdiction of District Leh.(Agencies)
