All the students were given newspapers to read to them and were also briefed about the advantages of newspapers in modern times. “The goal of this activity was to inform students about current events rather than using mobile phones,” said administrator Bilal Ahmad Wani.

He said in the coming days they would hold special news reading sessions for the students, as this future generation is distancing them from the newspaper.

On this occasion, the students were given the daily Global Kashmir Newspaper to read and were also briefed about the advantages of newspaper reading. “At present, most of the students are spending their time with smartphones, which pose a threat, and our aim is to keep the students away from electronic gadgets that will help them,” Ahmad added.

The editor-in-chief of the Global Kashmir Newspaper, Suhail Yousuf shah was also honoured with an award of appreciation by the administration of the institution for his support in making this programme successful.
