Teachers are akin to second parents. They mold our minds, enabling us to recognize our talents and aspirations. Between high school and college, I’ve had the privilege of learning from eighty-six different teachers. While some may perceive a teacher’s primary role as instructing children in proper behavior and moral judgment, teachers go above and beyond, resembling second parents who guide their students with care and compassion. Just as they would with their own children, teachers correct their pupils when they stray.
Teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of the students under their care. Witnessing the joyful countenances of students is their ultimate reward. Their dedication is unwavering, and their love is unconditional.
Since time immemorial, we have been instilled with the value of respecting our teachers. It is believed that if we displease God, our teachers can offer a solution. However, when our teachers are disappointed in us, there’s no one else to turn to for guidance. Thus, the role of a teacher is undeniably unique, and it merits our deepest respect.
Upon entering college, I wasn’t sure if I would find someone with whom I could freely share my thoughts. However, my encounter with Mr. Devinder Maheshwari, the Head of the Pharmacy Department at Guru Kashi University in Talwandi Sabo, Punjab, changed my perspective. He has been a mentor, providing professional guidance and nurturing my growth. I believe that colleges should comprise a diverse mix of teachers, akin to the structure of a law firm with associates, junior partners, and senior partners. It’s vital to acknowledge that a teacher’s work extends beyond the confines of the classroom, much like a lawyer’s work transcends the courtroom.
The impact of teachers is immeasurable, and they leave an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of their students. They are the unsung heroes who inspire and shape future generations.”
