Pampore: Department of social forestry on Saturday conducted a plantation drive in Galandar area of Pampore in Pulwama district.
The drive was held at Birla Open Minds International School Galandar, which was conducted under the supervision of Director, Social forestry, Jammu and Kashmir, Roshan Jaggi.
Besides Director, Regional Director, Social Forestry, Kashmir, Mehraj Ud Din Malik, DFO Pulwama, Manzoor Ahmad, Range officers, Block officers, other employees of Social forestry, BDCs, Sarpanchs, Panchs and other representatives participated in the drive.
Scores of saplings of different species were planted around the the Srinagar-Jammu national highway (near Birla School), during this drive.
Talking to media, Director, Social Forestry, J&K, Roshan Jaggi has said that dept of Social forestry usually conduct plantation drives in December, January, February and March months here.
He said that department has now involved PRIs to spread a concrete message among the people, pertaining to plantation.
Jaggi further said that “such drives would be conducted in other places of Jammu & Kashmir in future as well, while people can also take saplings from the department to plant the same.”
A meeting was also held in the conference hall of Birla International School, where PRIs discussed several issues with the top officials of Social Forestry.
