JAMMU : Minister for FCS&CA, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, IT, ARI and Trainings, Satish Sharma, on Wednesday underscored the importance of preserving history, heritage and cultural values as key to a flourishing society.
The Minister was addressing the students and the faculty after releasing the annual school magazine “Dharohar” at the Government Sri Ranbir Model Higher Secondary School, Parade Jammu.
The Minister said that history, heritage and values form the cornerstone of every society and must be protected and revitalised for future generations. He stressed that educational institutions play a vital role in nurturing cultural consciousness among the young minds, inspiring them to remain connected with their roots.
“History, heritage and values are the foundation of our identity. We must take collective steps for their restoration and revival so that future generations inherit not only progress but also pride in their traditions,” maintained the Minister.
He appreciated the school administration for bringing out the annual magazine, describing it as a meaningful platform that reflects students’ creativity, intellectual growth and cultural awareness. He said such initiatives help preserve institutional legacy while encouraging the students to document and celebrate their heritage.
The Minister also highlighted the government’s commitment towards promoting youth development through education, sports and cultural engagement. He encouraged the students to actively participate in literary, cultural and sporting activities to build confidence, character and a sense of pride and purpose.
The programme concluded with the formal unveiling of “Dharohar” and a reaffirmation of the shared commitment towards preserving the cultural heritage in Jammu and beyond.
Earlier, the Minister visited the library at the institution and called for digitization of various artifacts and manuscripts present there.
