Kupwara : Sahil Bashir, District President of the Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) in Kupwara, has called upon the Union Territory leadership to address the pressing issues faced by the teaching community. Bashir, alongside Chairman Mohd Shafi Rather and Provincial President Bhat Javid, urged the UT government to take immediate action to resolve key concerns affecting teachers’ welfare and the overall functioning of the education system.
In his statement, Bashir highlighted several critical demands that require the government’s immediate attention. Pending GPF Bills: The JKTF has raised the issue of pending General Provident Fund (GPF) bills that have been overdue for a long time. Teachers are facing financial difficulties due to these pending bills, and clearing them will provide much-needed relief.
He stressed the importance of completing the Annual Transfer Drive (ATD) in a timely manner. He also called for the revocation of irrational rationalization and deployments, as well as the efficient processing of transfers. Special attention, he said, should be given to teachers and masters who have been serving in hard zones (Zones V and VI) for over two years.
Another key demand raised was the resolution of pending TGII and TGIII transition files, along with addressing overlapping transition files. These steps are necessary to support the career progression of teachers, enabling them to advance in their professional journeys.
The JKTF President urged the government to expedite the posting of newly promoted masters. Addressing these postings will help fill administrative gaps and improve the efficiency of educational institutions across the region.
Bashir called for the issuance of orders to fill vacant posts, including that of principals, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), headmasters, and masters. Filling these positions will ensure better management and administration in schools, leading to improved outcomes for students.
The timely distribution of free textbooks for Classes 1 to 8 was also emphasized by Bashir. Ensuring that students have access to textbooks is crucial for promoting equitable education and supporting the learning process.
Bashir concluded by asserting that the timely resolution of these demands will significantly improve teacher morale and strengthen the overall education system in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed hope that the UT leadership will act swiftly to address these issues and ensure the betterment of the teaching community and students alike.
