Rs 3 lakh cash recovered in raid on premises of drug smugglers in Samba

SAMBA: Tightening its noose against the narcotics smugglers, the district police recovered hidden cash of Rs 3 lakh and nine mobile phones from a hideout of heroin suppliers at infamous ‘chitta’ hotspot of Balol khad under jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana.

“Police also booked three notorious heroin suppliers including two women,” a police spokesperson said.

“Pursuing investigation in case FIR No 103/2023 under various sections of law -NDPS Act at P/S Bari Brahmana, police teams conducted raids at the suspected hideouts of the heroin suppliers in the presence of Executive Magistrate Ist Class,” said senior superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba Benam Tosh.

“During the course of searches of suspected hideouts of top suppliers of heroin, police detected a small pit beneath a hearth (fire place) which was dug out by police and found Rs 3 lakh cash and a drug proceeds hidden by heroin suppliers.

SSP Samba Tosh said, “Besides cash, the police team also recovered nine mobiles during searches which presumably have been taken by the heroin suppliers from retail suppliers and addicts in lieu of ‘chitta.”

“Searches at suspected hideouts were conducted by the police team comprising of sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Bari Brahmana Rahul Nagar, SHO Bari Brahmana Sunil Sharma & PSI Mohd Aslam in the presence of Executive Magistrate Ist Class Narinder Sharma under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl SP) Samba Surinder Choudhary, SSP Samba added.

SSP Samba Tosh said that in the past four months, as many as forty-two (42) top narco-suppliers have been arrested including five (05) notorious women drug suppliers.
