Kupwara : Ssp traffic rural Kashmir Ravinder paul singh on tuesday carried out special drive on sopore, handwara kupwara highway.
The drive was carried for several hours, offenders who were found driving vehicles in violation of traffic laws especially those without hsrp, seat belt, crash helmet, proper documents & habitual offenders with overloaded passengers and goods etc were booked under relevant sections of MV act. A number of vehicles were seized as well.
Traffic police rural Kashmir in its endeavour for traffic regulation and law enforcement has been trying hard to uphold highest standards of professionalism by way of upgrading traffic nakas, increased point deployment, use of e challan machines and body worn cameras, interceptor vehicles deployment on highways, coordination with civil counterparts, special eye testing camps for drivers, cancellation/ suspension of Driving licences of drivers involved in fatal accidents, late evening deployments to ease out congestion in major towns and counselling of teenagers involved in rash driving of bikes/ motorcycles.
The effective traffic management and reduction in fatalities/ fatal accidents is a multidisciplinary approach, reiterating this point, ssp traffic rural Kashmir has requested all stakeholders including drivers, commuters, business fraternity, civil society, NGOs, parents of teenagers to play active role in traffic law enforcement.
In this special drive traffic police seized two dozen vehicles including one school bus ,challaned 72 vehicles and total fined amount of 21500 rs.
