Tehsil legal Services Committee Handwara Organized Awareness programme on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace

KUPWARA : On the directions of Secretary District Legal Services Authority Kupwara Mr. Muneer Ahmad Khan and under the Chairmanship of Mr. Manzoor Hussain (Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Handwara)Tehsil Legal Services Committee Handwara Organized awareness programmee on “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace” “at I C D S Office Handwara today.

The event aimed to sensitize participants about the rights of women, the legal framework addressing workplace harassment, and the mechanisms available for redressal.

The programme was attended by officials, plvs and officals from the ICDS Department. Resorce Person, Adv Nadeem Khaliq delivered a detailed and insightful lecture on the topic. During his address, he emphasized the importance of creating safe and inclusive work environments for women and outlined the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013.

The participants were informed about:

– The definition and types of sexual harassment.

– The procedure for filing complaints and the role of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).

– The duties of employers in ensuring a harassment-free workplace.

-The role of the legal system in safeguarding women’s rights

The event also included an interactive session where attendees raised queries and shared their concerns regarding workplace safety and the challenges women face. Speaking on the occasion, the importance of awareness programs in empowering women and fostering gender equality was highlighted. He urged all organizations to implement strict policies and ensure a supportive environment for women. The TLSC, Handwara, reaffirmed its commitment to spreading awareness and providing legal aid to those in need. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a pledge to uphold the rights and dignity of women in all workplaces.
