Three drugs peddlers, one notorious thief detained under PSA.

Continuing its efforts to tighten noose around the drugs peddlers and antisocial elements in the district, Kupwara Police has detained three drugs peddlers and an antisocial person involved in various cases of narcotics peddling and theft in the areas of Kupwara and Handwara areas under PSA. All the four persons had become incorrigible elements inimical to the peaceful living of the people of Kupwara and Handwara and were not mending their ways despite facing trial in criminal cases. Three persons detained for their involvement in drug trafficking have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Peer @ Bashir Pandith son of Mohammad Asadullah of
Hirri QadirAbad , Abdul Rashid Malik son of Gh Nabi Malik resident of Malik Mohalla Kupwara and Zaheer Ahmad Chak @Shani son of Late Gh Nabi Chak resident of Khawarpora Karnah. The trio has been found to have been doing the illegal sale of narcotics for earning easy money at the cost of healthy lives of innocent young people in Kupwara. The fourth person involved in over six cases of theft in the areas of Kupwara and Handwara has been identified as Haris Ahmad Sheikh @
AndhaKanoon son of Ab Rashid Sheikh of
Tikker Kupwara. Haris because of his notoriety has achieved the disreputable name as AndhaKanoon over a period of time.

All the four persons have been lodged in the jails in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu division. More such action against other such elements is under process to curb the menace of drugs peddling in the district.
