Kupwara : The Zila Sainik Welfare Office (ZSWO) Kupwara on Friday organised a one-day Interaction-cum-Orientation Programme for 40 re-attired soldiers at its premises, aimed at facilitating their smooth transition into civilian life and promoting self-reliance.
The programme was presided over by Brigadier Devwrat Shaktawat, Deputy GOC, 28 Infantry Division, and was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Shahzad Kabir Mattoo, along with officials from various departments.
During the session, resource persons from Agriculture and allied sectors, Skill Development, Industries, Employment, Mission YUVA, and the Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) provided detailed insights into various government schemes and opportunities available for ex-servicemen. The initiative focused on encouraging re-attired soldiers to become entrepreneurs and job providers in their “second innings” rather than job seekers.
On the occasion, all participating ex-servicemen were issued Identity Cards and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) certificates by the dignitaries. They were also briefed on the significance and practical use of these documents in place of discharge books and other confidential records.
Colonel S.S. Raja, ZSWO Kupwara, also highlighted the recently launched 100-day “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan” and urged the re-attired soldiers to play an active role in raising awareness and helping curb the menace of drug abuse in society.
The programme concluded with a high tea session followed by a group photograph.
