Have you ever looked closely at those faces where the glow of youth no longer remains? Look a little deeper, and you will realize that behind every wrinkle lies an entire story—untold, unheard, yet deeply felt.
Have you ever noticed those hands that once reached out for others, and today tremble in silence? Those shoulders that once stood strong for everyone else, yet now struggle to support themselves?
Have you ever looked into those eyes that once carried dreams of the entire world, and today hold a quiet heaviness? Or that heart which once overflowed with countless desires, and now feels strangely empty?
What strange beings we humans are. We spend our lives investing ourselves in places where nothing truly lasts, and in the end—when we need our own strength—we find ourselves searching for support from others.
I have often observed one thing very closely: Whenever I sit in front of someone, I don’t just listen to their words—I search for the silence hidden behind their face. I try to see in their eyes everything they once wished for, everything they perhaps lost along the way.
We humans are strange—we understand neither words nor silence. Yet if we truly try, we can begin to understand even the quiet that lives behind a face. The only condition is that, for a moment, we must let go of ourselves and step into someone else’s existence. Only then can we truly feel what they carry within.
Words may remain in the mind, but behavior leaves a mark on the heart. And sometimes, even unspoken things leave the deepest impact.
I have always looked at life with attention to the smallest details. Sometimes I observe a stranger, sometimes a passing face—but rarely do I just see. I try to understand.
A mother, sitting quietly, her eyes fixed on a path that hasn’t brought her son back in years. If you look at her face, you won’t just see age—you will see waiting. A silence that speaks louder than words ever could.
A father, whose tired eyes still carry the hope that one day his children will sit beside him again. A sister, holding onto the belief that she will never be forgotten. A traveler, lost between distances, carrying stories no one has ever asked about.
Every face carries something—something we often fail to notice. Perhaps that is why, even though we are capable of feeling so deeply, the world still feels full of unseen pain.
Sometimes I wonder—if we can feel so much, why do we still fail to understand each other? Why does silence remain unheard, even when it is right in front of us?
Perhaps the truth is, we are always looking—but we are not really seeing.
There are so many people who cannot express what they feel. People who carry entire storms within them, yet speak nothing at all. And so, they take refuge in silence… or in words written somewhere no one may ever read.
Words that bring life to a blank page. A pen that carries emotions too heavy for the heart. And eyes that grow moist while reading something they finally relate to.
What could be more strange than this?
I am one of those people—someone who never dreamt of perfect fantasies, nor held onto illusions. Because I have seen how, as the sun sets, faces begin to change… behaviors begin to shift… and the silence behind them becomes even louder.
And sometimes, I can’t help but wonder— If we truly started seeing the silence behind faces, would the world feel any less heavy?
