Kupwara: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Media Incharge Kashmir, Advocate Sajid Yousuf Shah, on Saturday visited Dardpora Lalpora in Lolab constituency of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, to take a firsthand account of pressing issues faced by local populace.
During his visit, Shah was informed about the long-pending demand regarding Lolab–Bandipora road. The locals also sought from the visiting leader intervention vis-a-vis urgent repairs, macadamization and upgradation on various other roads and link roads in the area, especially on Lalpora-Dardpora road.
The poor condition of the road, according to residents, has been causing immense hardship to commuters, especially during harsh weather conditions.
Various public delegations on the occasion decried about the erratic power supply and water supply, besides complaining about shabby and worn out infrastructure in educational institutions and healthcare buildings across the region.
Shah gave a patient hearing to each of the grievances’ of the people and assured them that he would personally take up their demands with the Lieutenant Governor’s administration as well as the district administration. He emphasized the strategic and economic importance of the Lolab-Bandipora road and called for immediate steps for its upgradation.
“I have seen the condition of the roads here myself. It is a matter of concern and I appeal to the LG administration and concerned authorities in the district to prioritize the macadamization and repair of this important road,” Shah said while addressing a gathering in Dardpora.
He lauded the spirit and resilience of the people living in remote areas and reiterated the BJP’s commitment to equitable development. “The demands raised by the people are genuine. Good road connectivity is not a luxury but a basic requirement. I will ensure that each of the issue raised here reaches the right platforms for an early redressal,” he added.
The visit was part of Shah’s broader outreach initiative to connect with people at the grassroots level and highlight local issues before the administration.
Local civil society members have hailed the leader for visiting them, and expressed hope that their long-standing demands would see positive and timely action with Shah’s intervention.
