Kupwara : Continuing its drive against drug menace, the Police Station Kupwara established a routine Naka (checkpoint) at Khumriyal. During checking, the Naka party apprehended one individual who was found to be in possession of narcotics.
The accused has been identified as Umer Aziz Payer S/O Ab Aziz Payer R/O Cheerikoot Lolab Kupwara.
Upon his search, a substantial amount of Heroin like substance was recovered from his possession. Preliminary enquiry revealed that the accused was engaged in illicit drug trafficking.
In this regard, a case has FIR No. 186/2025 under Sections 8/20,21,29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kupwara. Investigation into the matter has been taken up to trace the source and wider network involved in the illegal trade. Upon his disclosure Search was conducted in the shop and residential house of another accused person namely Munzoor Ahmad Mir @ Manna Tanghar S/O Mohd Maqbool Mir R/O Khumriyal.
During search substantial amount of narcotics and Cash amounting to Rs 493100/-was recovered from his possession.
