Editorial | Fresh snowfall drapes Kashmir valley, but disrupts normal life

Heavy snowfall was recorded in parts of the Kashmir valley on Monday, with both surface and air traffic badly hit by the inclement weather. Authorities have been deployed men and machinery across kashmir to clear the snow. However it is also needed that the pace of machinery must be made fast so that upper reaches and far flung areas are snow cleared well on time. At the same time , Govt should issue strict directions to food and supplies department and health department to keep their staff ready in their concerned vicinities . Ration supply must be sent to the far off areas to stop any crisis.

Government at any place is meant to serve its people at all times. However, the test of its competency can better be gauged during testing times. Winter poses many challenges for a common people especially in kashmir . Preparedness to deal with snow in winter and plans for access to places and essential resources illustrate administrative efficiency. In winters and snow the power cuts , health emergencies and ration are the important things that need to be taken into. Govt must ensure all these things are done well on time . The LG Adminstration in jammu kashmir has been doing tremendous job during winters. But the pace to enhance the access of things must be made fast .
