For years, victims of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir lived with loss and silence. They lost family members, livelihoods, and faith in systems meant to protect them. Many knocked on doors that never opened. Files gathered dust. Promises faded with time. This long neglect deepened their pain.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has changed that course. By giving government jobs to terror victims and by hearing their pleas directly, he has brought dignity back to families pushed to the margins. This effort is not charity. It is justice delivered after delay.
Terror violence does not end with the sound of a gun. Its real impact begins later, inside homes stripped of income and hope. Widows struggle to raise children. Parents lose their only earning son. Young survivors grow up with trauma and no support. When the state fails to step in, anger and despair take root.
LG Sinha has chosen a different response. He listened. He acknowledged that pain needs action, not sympathy alone. Under his leadership, pending cases of terror victims were reviewed. Many families finally received appointment letters that had been denied for years. These jobs mean food on the table. They mean education for children. They mean self respect.
This policy carries moral weight. The state has a duty to those who suffered because they stood for peace or simply lived normal lives. Terror groups aimed to break society by targeting civilians. When the government supports victims, it sends a clear message. Violence will not win. Victims will not be forgotten.
The importance of listening cannot be overstated. Victims often complain that officials treat them as numbers. LG Sinha broke that pattern by meeting families, hearing their stories, and ensuring follow up. For many, it was the first time someone in authority heard them without haste. That human connection matters as much as the job itself.
Jobs provide stability. Stability reduces vulnerability. In conflict regions, unemployed and broken families are easy targets for radical influence. By securing livelihoods for terror victims, the administration is also investing in long term peace. This is a practical step with security value.
Critics may argue that jobs alone cannot erase trauma. That is true. But without economic security, healing remains impossible. Employment creates space for recovery. It allows families to plan for the future instead of surviving day to day. It restores a sense of belonging to the system.
What stands out is the intent to clear backlogs. Many cases remained unresolved for decades due to red tape or lack of political will. Addressing these files required courage and commitment. It meant admitting that the system failed earlier. It meant correcting that failure openly.
This approach also sets a precedent. It tells future administrations that compassion must translate into policy. It tells citizens that peaceful voices will be heard. In a region scarred by mistrust, such signals carry weight.
The gesture has symbolic value too. Terror groups thrive on the idea that the state is distant and uncaring. When the head of the administration personally ensures justice for victims, that narrative collapses. The state appears present, responsive, and humane.
There is also a larger lesson here. Counter terror efforts often focus only on force. Force is necessary, but incomplete. Care for victims completes the picture. It addresses the social damage left behind. It rebuilds trust between people and institutions.
LG Sinha’s initiative deserves recognition because it centers victims, not politics. It avoids noise. It delivers results quietly. Families who waited for years now hold appointment letters. Children see a future again. That change is real.
More can still be done. Counseling support, education aid, and fast track grievance cells can strengthen this effort. Transparency in selection must continue to avoid doubt. But the foundation has been laid.
Governance is tested in how it treats the weakest. Terror victims are among the most vulnerable. By standing with them, by giving them work and dignity, LG Sinha has shown what responsible leadership looks like.
Peace grows when justice is felt in daily life. For many terror hit families, that feeling has finally arrived.
