Kupwara : As part of the Back To Village Programme 4  “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” mission of empowering the girl child in every sphere of life, District Hub for Empowerment of Women DHEW Mission Shakti, Department of Social Welfare,  organized awareness programme at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Kupwara under Jan Abhiyan, which marked the attendance of hundreds  of students.

Mohd Iqbal Lone Commissioner for Children with Disabilities was the Chief guest of the program. He interacted with the students and the staff.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohd Iqbal Lone emphasized upon the need to create awareness among masses with regard to educating a girl child. He exhorted upon the significance of the campaign and said that a woman comprises half of the population and they should not be deprived of their basic rights including right to education. He also termed gender inequality as the threat to the stability of society and assured of every possible initiative in this regard.

While citing the example of many woman personalities, Lone said that there is a need to provide platform for exploring the hidden talent. He stressed upon imparting moral education among students and terms it the only tool to transform society.

Meanwhile various speakers and students spoke on the topic and highlighted the need of its dissemination.

District Mission cordinator Khalida Yasin said , we need to save daughters to save human species from extention she further added BBBP is no one day scheme, but responsibility of every one to save the girl child.

The program was attended by
District Social Welfare Officer, Hidaytullah Mir, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Kupwara Suhail Kamal Mir, Employees Of District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Employees of ICPS, Shayista Muzaffar

 

Later they distributed baby kits among nursing mother’s and appreciation certificates among meritorious girls and participants.

Lone, while briefing media, said, such awareness programmes will be held across the District in all Govt. Schools ,Colleges and Private Schools .
