Shaheena Firdous from Srinagar is a house wife and Mother, and an embroidery Artist. Shaheena firdous said that Few years back in my young days I learnt handmade Kashmiri souzni embroidery from my late father (Ahmad Ali), Slowly slowly this became my passion and I used to practice alot but due to invocation in technology people at that time and knowadays have often forgotten about the importance of this handmade Kashmiri souzni embroidery and they give preference to artificial embroidery so I was somehow disappointed & stopped doing it for sometime ,In 2020 my children insisted me to start a small business and I introduced my work on social media platform, It somehow helped, When people again showed interest in it I started to renovate this work a bit and use my talent in an innovative way by doing this souzni embroidery on many other things of today’s fashion like on masks, jeans, scarfs, shawals and much more, we do customised Kashmiri souzni embroidery on anything you like I hope this small step taken by me will somehow help people to reknow about the significance of this handmade Kashmiri souzni embroidery and it will revive again as a part of Kashmiri culture.
