ChatGPT is a natural language processing tool powered by AI technology that allows you to have human-like discussions with the chatbot and much more. The language model can answer questions and help you with tasks like writing emails, essays, and coding. ChatGPT is now free to use because it is in the research and feedback-collection phase. ChatGPT Plus, a paid subscription version, was released in early February. ChatGPT was created by OpenAI, an AI and research company. The company launched ChatGPT on November 30, 2022. “ChatGPT is terrifyingly good. “We are not far from dangerously powerful AI,” claimed Elon Musk, who was one of OpenAI’s founders before quitting. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated on Twitter that ChatGPT had over one million users in the first five days of its launch. ChatGPT is the fastest-growing app of all time, according to UBS research. According to the analysis, ChatGPT had 100 million active users in January, only two months after its introduction. TikTok, on the other hand, took nine months to achieve 100 million subscribers. In addition to answering simple queries, the model has numerous more roles. ChatGPT can write essays for you, describe art in great detail, provide AI art prompts, hold philosophical discussions, and even code for you.
ChatGPT is based on OpenAI’s Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (GPT) language model architecture. According to OpenAI, the GPT employed by ChatGPT is fine-tuned from a model in the GPT-3.5 series. The language model was refined using both supervised and reinforcement learning. ChatGPT is distinguished by its use of Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF). According to OpenAI, human AI trainers used RLHF to feed the model with discussions in which they played both the user and AI helpers. Despite its appealing appearance, ChatGPT has limitations. Such restrictions include the inability to answer questions that are stated in a certain way, as understanding the input question necessitates rewording. A more serious drawback is a lack of quality in the replies it provides, which might sometimes seem realistic but make little practical sense or be too lengthy. “The primary issue is that, while the answers produced by ChatGPT have a high rate of being incorrect, they typically appear to be good and the answers are very easy to produce,” write Stack Overflow moderators in a post. Critics contend that these tools are just effective at placing words in a statistically right order, but they cannot interpret the content or determine whether the assertions they generate are correct.
In nutshell, ChatGPT is a game changer with the potential to redefine how we communicate, learn, and engage with technology. However, its improved powers bring with them new dangers and difficulties that we must handle. If the goal of ChatGPT is to benefit society, we must create strong ethical frameworks and rules that emphasise privacy, security, and justice. We must also invest in education and training to ensure that people understand when and how to utilise this.
