Kashmir region has long been associated with conflict and unrest, but today a silent yet powerful transformation is taking place, led by educated women. Education is no longer just a means of personal growth; it has become a strong force against radical thinking and violence. For many years, Kashmir remained a breeding ground for unrest and the spread of extremist ideas, especially among the youth. Violence, fear, and limited opportunities disrupted daily life and slowed social progress. In such conditions, women suffered even more. Their lives were often confined within the four walls of their homes, with their choices controlled by society,by fathers, brothers, and even sons. Many girls were denied education, burdened with early responsibilities, and not allowed to express their opinions. Their voices remained unheard, and their potential was suppressed.
However, despite these challenges, a quiet yet meaningful change is emerging. As more girls step into classrooms, they are not only shaping their own futures but also positively influencing their families and communities. Education is helping women break barriers, gain confidence, and spread awareness, leading Kashmir towards a more peaceful and progressive society.
When girls go to school, they learn to think clearly and understand what is right and wrong. They also share this knowledge with their families and communities.
Educated women are spreading awareness, hope and good values. They guide others, especially children, towards education, respect, and peaceful living. Because of this, negative and extreme thinking slowly starts to decrease.
It helps them become aware of social issues and recognize harmful ideas like extremism. Educated women are less likely to be influenced by false propaganda because they can think logically and question what they hear or see. They also stay informed about current events and understand the consequences of violence and hatred. This awareness not only protects them but also helps them guide their families in the right direction. As a result, educated women play an important role in reducing extremist thinking and promoting a peaceful and balanced society.
Mothers play a vital role in nurturing children. When mothers are educated, they teach their children good values. They help children understand how to treat others with love and fairness. Educated mothers also guide their children to stay away from bad influences and wrong ideas. They listen to their children, support them, and correct them when needed. This creates a safe and positive environment at home.
A good upbringing helps build a peaceful and responsible society.
Education helps women think clearly and ask questions. They do not believe everything they hear or see. It helps them understand the truth behind false information and propaganda. Educated women make better decisions and guide their families wisely, which reduces the chances of people following harmful or extremist ideas in society.
Women who have received an education can get employment and earn money to take care of their families. In doing so, poverty and economic stress are alleviated. With all the essentials being met, one feels more assured and optimistic about his/her future. Hence, he/she is unlikely to fall prey to the propaganda of any extremist organization.
Women are also very significant in establishing peace within society. Educated women convey messages of cohesion and unity and how people should live in harmony with each other. Educated mothers at home establish an atmosphere that is very harmonious. In addition to this, they also instill good qualities in their children along with discipline and proper understanding of everything that happens around them. By doing so, they also help in building trust and emotional stability among the family members. The result of being raised in such an environment is that one never gets swayed by any negativity.
The education of females serves as a strong example to others in society. When girls see how women learn, work, and succeed in life, they tend to emulate them by taking the same path. Educated women serve as a motivation to many other girls to pursue higher education. By being successful, they instill a sense of the importance of learning, independence, and self-respect. They motivate their families and society to educate women, as it is necessary for social development.
Additionally, educated females are responsible for maintaining cultural and traditional values in society. They do not succumb to any radicalism or extremism but teach children and others about their values, beliefs, and morality. They preserve traditions that are conducive to peace and tranquillity in society rather than instilling feelings of anger and violence among individuals.
Women’s education is another key factor that keeps youths away from becoming extremists. Women educate their children in a proper way and ensure that they receive the right values, keeping a strict eye on their behaviour and friends. Children brought up in such households are sure to enjoy their childhood filled with love, support, and happiness, making them immune to any extremism and radical ideology. It is very much evident that good parenthood and proper guidance have a lot to do with it.
Last but not least, education is vital when it comes to ensuring stability and peace within society. The education of women ensures equality, proper decision-making, and better family ties. Stability at the domestic level brings about stability at the community level as well. Peace and harmony make sure that frustrations, inequities, and injustice will not take place, factors that can fuel any form of radicalisation.
The education of women is the greatest tool in curbing radicalism. Women, when educated, will bring about a sense of peace and knowledge among themselves, their families, and communities. In doing so, the women will prepare the upcoming generation to be tolerant and knowledgeable, thus paving the way for a more peaceful future.
