Tough challenges have been faced, and it is imperative to maintain a peaceful environment while also changing mindsets and encouraging people to transition from violence to peace. To preserve the peaceful environment in Kashmir, efforts must be made to address the root causes of conflict, promote dialogue and reconciliation, and foster economic development and social cohesion. Additionally, initiatives aimed at promoting national unity, patriotism, and respect for diversity can contribute to long-term stability and peace in the region. Above all, Kashmiris must be loved, respected, and inspired with the tenets of nationalism, patriotism, unity, and brotherhood.
The first and foremost challenge was to restore peace and stability in the valley. Simultaneously, addressing social, political, and economic challenges became imperative. Thirty years of radicalization, political victimization, social insecurity, and open violence posed significant hurdles for India in Kashmir. Systematically, India addressed these challenges, considering all factors, and made progress possible. It’s true that to change history, one must create history. Some historical facts that hindered people in the centre and made those in the valley vulnerable were addressed. Among all challenges, the biggest obstacle was the abrogation of Article 370, which was the main source of all the difficulties faced by the common Kashmiri.
To control widespread unrest and protests, which led to security concerns and disruptions in daily life, there was a dire need for a strategy and people-oriented plan. Kashmir is considered hyper-sensitive in India due to the turmoil of killings and the presence of unknown gunmen. Moreover, it has also experienced fluctuations in circumstances, with turmoil sometimes escalating to a point where human lives were at risk. Due to provocation and radicalization, innocent people often got caught in the crossfire, posing the toughest challenge in Kashmir. However, considering the restoration of peace and the elimination of violence in planning was a great achievement that we are currently enjoying.
Presently, the situation in Kashmir has improved compared to the immediate aftermath of the abrogation. There is greater stability and normalcy, with the restoration of communication channels and the easing of restrictions.
One of the key challenges is to address the grievances and aspirations of the people of Kashmir, ensuring their participation in the decision-making process and fostering trust in the government. Development initiatives need to be accelerated to spur economic growth and improve living standards. Additionally, efforts to combat terrorism and insurgency must be intensified to maintain peace and security in the region.
Looking ahead, Kashmir faces the challenge of navigating its path towards long-term peace, stability, and prosperity. This requires sustained efforts to address underlying issues, promote reconciliation, and build inclusive institutions. Moreover, fostering dialogue and engagement with all stakeholders, including local communities, political parties, and civil society, will be crucial in shaping the region’s future trajectory. By addressing these challenges effectively, Kashmir can chart a path towards a brighter and more hopeful future.
So then, people have embraced the peace, development and prosperity. Before going ahead, we need to focus something more important
Preserving the present peaceful environment in Kashmir requires a comprehensive plan addressing various aspects of society, governance, and development. Here’s a proposed plan:
To maintain the current pace of peace and prosperity in Kashmir, we must focus on strengthening security measures, enhancing intelligence gathering to preempt potential threats, and ensuring effective coordination between security forces. Regular security assessments should be conducted to address emerging challenges promptly. Additionally, promoting inclusive governance by engaging all stakeholders, encouraging democratic participation, and empowering local institutions is crucial. Prioritizing socio-economic development through initiatives aimed at creating employment opportunities, improving infrastructure, and promoting entrepreneurship is essential. Enhancing community engagement, investing in education and awareness, strengthening judicial and legal mechanisms, fostering international cooperation, and monitoring progress are also vital steps. By implementing these measures cohesively, we can preserve the present peaceful environment and lay a solid foundation for long-term stability, prosperity, and development in the region.
For this, Kashmiri intellectuals, scholars, and civil society should come forward and proliferate messages of present development and the challenges ahead, which are visible to everyone. Their cause and effect on society have to be highlighted, and the role of common people needs to take the lead in order to keep their society free from crime and social problems.
