The youth of Jammu and Kashmir represent the future of the region, and it is crucial to empower them and unleash their potential to ensure a brighter tomorrow. The youth of Jammu and Kashmir face a myriad of challenges that hindered their growth and development. However post abrogation of Special status , the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are being provided endless job opportunities. It is also a fact that one of the most significant challenges is the limited employment opportunities available to them. Due to the adverse  situation in the region, many industries have suffered, leading to a lack of job prospects. This has resulted in high unemployment rates among the youth, leading to frustration and disillusionment but now things have altogether changed and Special opportunities are given to the youth to showcase their capabilities.
Empowering the youth of Jammu and Kashmir is not just a matter of addressing their immediate needs but also a strategic investment in the future of the region. By empowering the youth, we can tap into their potential and harness their energy, creativity, and innovation. When the youth are empowered, they can become agents of change and contribute to the social, economic, and political development of Jammu and Kashmir.
Moreover, empowering the youth also helps in fostering a sense of belonging and ownership among them. It gives them a voice and a stake in the future of their region, which in turn builds a stronger and more inclusive society. By investing in the youth today, we can lay the foundation for a prosperous and harmonious tomorrow. Recognizing the importance of addressing the issue of unemployment among the youth, the government of Jammu and Kashmir has implemented various employment schemes. These schemes aim to provide skill training, entrepreneurship opportunities, and financial assistance to the youth, enabling them to secure gainful employment or start their own ventures. One such scheme is the “Himayat” program, which focuses on providing skill training and placement opportunities to unemployed youth. Under this program, youth are trained in various vocational skills, such as hospitality, healthcare, and information technology. They are then assisted in finding suitable employment or supported in setting up their own enterprises.
Another notable scheme is the “Udaan” program, which targets the education and skill development of the youth from the state. It provides them with opportunities to receive quality education and training in sectors with high growth potential. The program also facilitates their placement in reputed companies, both within and outside the state.
Despite the challenges faced by the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, there have been inspiring success stories of youth empowerment in the region. One such success story is that of Aamir, a young entrepreneur from Srinagar. Aamir started his own organic farming business, which not only provided him with a sustainable livelihood but also created employment opportunities for others in his community.
Another success story is that of Mehreen, a young woman from Anantnag district. Mehreen overcame societal barriers and pursued her passion for art. She now runs her own art studio and has become an inspiration for other aspiring artists in the region. These success stories highlight the resilience, determination, and talent of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. They demonstrate that with the right support and opportunities, the youth can overcome obstacles and achieve remarkable success. There are tens and thousands of such  examples of our youth which can stand as an inspiration. In every sector youth are showing their abilities like in Art, Culture, Science, Music, corporate industry, Security Forces and in other sectors. The need of the hour is to provide them a helping hand to make them able to contribute towards nation building.
